Triple synergy - lavender, lemon balm and L-theanine
In a randomised double-blind trial involving 141 individuals, lavender oil demonstrated significant improvement in both anxiousness and low mood scores, supporting the efficacy for managing mood-related symptoms. (1) Lavender oil's anxiolytic and mood enhancing activity may be due to the modulation of serotonin and dopamine, as well as endocannabinoid activity. Research supports the effectiveness of lavender and lemon balm in reducing anxiety. In a 2020 clinical trial, both herbs demonstrated similar efficacy to conventional medication in alleviating anxiety symptoms.
Lemon balm reduces neuronal excitation by helping to inhibit the degradation of GABA. In a randomised double-blind trial, 35 patients receiving lemon balm (3000mg/day) experienced remarkable reductions in anxiousness (-24%) and stress (-15%) compared with placebo group (+1%; -1%)
In a randomised double-blind crossover trial, 15 patients supplemented with 200mg/day of L-theanine experienced greater reduction in low mood and anxiousness compared with placebo. 200mg of theanine increases α-brain wave activity, inducing mental relaxation as well as improving reaction time amongst anxiety subjects with mild anxiety compared to placebo.
Directions
Adults: To calm the mind and support emotional wellbeing: Take one capsule daily with food.
